Here’s a simple, versatile pizza recipe—you can make it at home with any toppings you like 🍕

🍕 Classic Homemade Pizza

Ingredients (makes 1 large pizza)

For the dough:

  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm water (105–110°F / 40–43°C)
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

For the toppings:

  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce (tomato sauce, marinara, or homemade)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Toppings of choice: pepperoni, bell peppers, mushrooms, olives, onions, cooked sausage, etc.
  • Olive oil for brushing crust
  • Optional: fresh basil or oregano

Instructions

  1. Make the dough
    • In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
    • In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and olive oil. Knead 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
    • Cover and let rise 1–2 hours until doubled in size.
  2. Preheat oven
    • Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
  3. Shape the dough
    • Punch down dough and roll or stretch into a 12-inch circle on a floured surface. Transfer to a greased pizza pan or hot pizza stone.
  4. Add sauce and toppings
    • Spread pizza sauce evenly. Sprinkle mozzarella and arrange your toppings.
  5. Bake
    • Bake 12–15 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
  6. Serve
    • Let cool 2–3 minutes, slice, and enjoy!
    • Optional: drizzle olive oil and sprinkle fresh basil or oregano.

🌟 Tips & Variations

  • Crispier crust: Pre-bake dough 5 minutes before adding toppings.
  • Cheesy extra: Mix mozzarella with provolone or cheddar.
  • White pizza: Skip tomato sauce and use garlic butter or Alfredo sauce.
  • Veggie pizza: Roast vegetables first to avoid watery topping.
  • Make-ahead: Dough can be refrigerated up to 24 hours or frozen for later use.
