Ahh, Salisbury steak — cozy diner classic 🥩✨
Here’s a simple, classic version you can make any night of the week.

Classic Salisbury Steak (serves 4)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 is perfect)
  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped (or grated)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper

For the gravy

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Optional: sliced mushrooms

How to make it

  1. Mix the patties
Combine beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire, salt, and pepper. Don’t overmix.
  2. Shape & sear
Form into oval patties. Brown them in a skillet over medium heat (about 3–4 minutes per side). Remove and set aside.
  3. Make the gravy
In the same pan, melt butter. Add mushrooms if using and cook till soft. Stir in flour and cook 1 minute. Slowly whisk in broth and Worcestershire.
  4. Simmer
Return patties to the pan, cover, and simmer 10–15 minutes until cooked through and gravy thickens.
  5. Serve
Best with mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rice — extra gravy mandatory.

If you want, I can:

  • make it extra old-school TV dinner style
  • do a slow-cooker version
  • or level it up with chef-y mushroom gravy

What vibe are you going for? 😄
