Classic Apple Dumplings

Serves 6

Ingredients

  • 2 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • ⅔ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • ¾ cup lemon-lime soda (Sprite/7-Up)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel apples, core, and cut each into 4 wedges.
  3. Separate crescent dough into triangles.
  4. Wrap one apple wedge in each piece of dough and place in a greased baking dish.
  5. Mix melted butter, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Pour evenly over dumplings.
  6. Carefully pour soda around (not directly on top).
  7. Bake 35–40 minutes, until golden and bubbly.
  8. Spoon sauce over the dumplings before serving.
