Here’s a hearty Philly Cheesesteak Casserole — all the flavors of a Philly cheesesteak sandwich baked into a comforting casserole.

🥩 Philly Cheesesteak Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 lb thinly sliced beef (ribeye, sirloin, or roast beef)
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup mayonnaise or sour cream
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 4 cups cubed French bread or hoagie rolls (optional: use low-carb bread for lighter version)
  • 1–2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

1️⃣ Cook the beef and vegetables

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Sauté onion, bell pepper, and garlic until softened (5–6 minutes).
  • Add beef and Worcestershire sauce; cook until beef is browned.
  • Season with salt and pepper.

2️⃣ Prepare the cheese mixture

  • In a bowl, combine cream cheese and mayonnaise (or sour cream) until smooth.
  • Fold in 1 cup shredded cheese.

3️⃣ Assemble the casserole

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, layer cubed bread (if using).
  • Spread beef and vegetable mixture over the bread.
  • Dollop or spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the top.
  • Sprinkle remaining 1 cup shredded cheese on top.

4️⃣ Bake

  • Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.

5️⃣ Serve

  • Let cool 5 minutes before serving.
  • Optional: garnish with chopped parsley or additional sautéed peppers.

🔥 Tips & Variations

  • Add mushrooms for extra Philly flavor.
  • Use provolone and cheddar for a richer, more authentic taste.
  • For a low-carb version, skip the bread and serve over roasted vegetables or cauliflower rice.
  • Make individual servings in ramekins for personal casseroles.

I can also give you:

  • Slow cooker Philly cheesesteak casserole
  • One-pan skillet version
  • Spicy version with banana peppers or hot sauce

Do you want the bread-based classic version or a low-carb/vegetable-based version?
