Here’s a simple, crunchy, and savory Crispy Fried Mushrooms recipe — perfect as an appetizer, side, or snack.

🍄 Crispy Fried Mushrooms

Ingredients

  • 12 oz button or cremini mushrooms, cleaned and trimmed
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornmeal or panko breadcrumbs (optional for extra crunch)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup milk
  • Oil for frying (vegetable, canola, or peanut)

Instructions

1️⃣ Prep the mushrooms

  • Pat mushrooms dry to help the coating stick.
  • Slice larger mushrooms in halves or quarters; leave small ones whole.

2️⃣ Make the coating

  • In one bowl, mix flour, cornmeal/panko (if using), garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • In another bowl, whisk egg and milk.

3️⃣ Coat the mushrooms

  • Dip mushrooms in the egg mixture, then dredge in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.

4️⃣ Heat the oil

  • Pour about 1–2 inches of oil into a skillet or pan. Heat over medium-high heat until hot (around 350°F / 175°C).

5️⃣ Fry the mushrooms

  • Fry mushrooms in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  • Cook 2–4 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

6️⃣ Serve

  • Serve hot with dipping sauces like ranch, garlic aioli, or spicy mayo.

🔥 Tips & Variations

  • Add Parmesan cheese or chopped herbs to the flour mixture for extra flavor.
  • For extra crispiness, double-dip mushrooms in egg and flour mixture.
  • Oven-bake option: Bake coated mushrooms at 400°F (200°C) for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Use shiitake, portobello, or oyster mushrooms for different textures and flavors.

I can also give you:

  • Tempura-style fried mushrooms
  • Spicy Cajun fried mushrooms
  • Air-fryer crispy mushrooms

Do you want the classic skillet-fried version or a baked/air-fryer version?
