BBQ country style ribs

Posted on March 1, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a tasty way to make BBQ country-style ribs that are tender, flavorful, and perfect for a homemade barbecue.

BBQ Country-Style Ribs Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2–3 lbs (900–1350 g) country-style pork ribs
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Optional: pinch of cayenne for heat

Instructions

1️⃣ Prep the Ribs

  • Pat ribs dry with paper towels.
  • In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne (if using).
  • Rub this spice mixture all over the ribs. Let them sit for 15–30 minutes at room temperature, or refrigerate for a few hours for more flavor.

2️⃣ Cook the Ribs

Oven Method (Tender & Juicy):

  • Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Place ribs in a baking dish, cover tightly with foil.
  • Bake 2–2.5 hours until tender.

Slow Cooker Method:

  • Place ribs in the slow cooker with 1/4 cup water or broth.
  • Cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3–4 hours until tender.

3️⃣ Add BBQ Sauce

  • Remove ribs from oven or slow cooker.
  • Brush BBQ sauce generously on all sides.
  • Optional: Broil in the oven 3–5 minutes for caramelized, sticky edges, or finish on a hot grill for 5–7 minutes per side.

4️⃣ Serve

  • Serve ribs with extra BBQ sauce, coleslaw, baked beans, or cornbread.

Tips

  • For even more flavor, marinate ribs in the spice rub overnight.
  • Slow cooking first, then finishing on the grill, gives the best texture and smoky flavor.
  • Country-style ribs are meatier and less fatty than baby back ribs, so they hold up well to sauces and longer cooking.

If you want, I can give a one-step Crock-Pot BBQ country-style ribs recipe where you dump everything in and have fall-apart tender ribs with minimal effort.

Do you want me to give that version?
