Here’s an easy way to make homemade vanilla sugar 🌿
Ingredients
- 1 vanilla bean
- 1–2 cups granulated sugar (white or caster sugar)
Method
- Split the vanilla bean lengthwise with a sharp knife.
- Scrape out the seeds and rub them into the sugar with your fingers so they distribute evenly.
- Add the empty pod to the sugar.
- Store in an airtight jar and shake gently.
- Let it sit for at least 1–2 weeks for best flavor (you can use it sooner, but it gets better with time).
Tips
- Shake the jar every few days to keep the vanilla evenly spread.
- Once you use up the sugar, you can top it up with more sugar and keep using the same vanilla pod until it loses fragrance.
- Works great in baking, coffee, tea, oatmeal, or sprinkling on fruit.
If you want, I can also show a quick blender method or a vanilla sugar using vanilla extract instead.
