Slow cooker pork

Posted on March 12, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a simple and flavorful Slow Cooker Pork recipe—perfectly tender, juicy, and versatile for sandwiches, tacos, or main dishes. 🐖🥘

Ingredients

  • 3–4 lb (1.4–1.8 kg) pork shoulder or pork butt
  • 1–2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 cup chicken broth or apple juice
  • Optional: ½ cup barbecue sauce for serving
  • Optional: 1 onion, sliced

Instructions

1. Prepare the Pork

  1. Rub the pork with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. Optional: Sear in a hot skillet for 2–3 minutes per side to lock in flavor.

2. Place in Slow Cooker

  • Place pork in the slow cooker.
  • Add sliced onion if using.
  • Pour in broth or apple juice.

3. Cook

  • Cover and cook:
    • Low for 8–10 hours, or
    • High for 4–6 hours,
until the pork is fork-tender and easily shreds.

4. Shred & Serve

  1. Remove pork from slow cooker and shred with two forks.
  2. Mix with juices from the slow cooker for extra flavor.
  3. Serve as-is, with barbecue sauce, or in tacos, sandwiches, or burritos.

Tips

  • Flavor variations: Add soy sauce, honey, mustard, or spices for a different twist.
  • Leftovers: Refrigerate for up to 3 days; freezes well.
  • Extra tenderness: Cook a little longer on low if the pork isn’t shredding easily.

I can also provide a slow-cooker pork with apples and onions recipe for a sweet-savory twist if you want a variation.

Do you want me to give that version?
