Tater Tot Casserole.

Posted on March 12, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic Tater Tot Casserole recipe—crispy, cheesy, and super comforting. 🥔🧀

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken)
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1–2 cups frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1–2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 (32 oz) bag frozen tater tots

Instructions

1. Preheat Oven

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. Cook the Beef Mixture

  1. In a skillet, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until beef is browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in cream of mushroom soup, milk, mixed vegetables, salt, and pepper. Heat until well combined.

3. Assemble Casserole

  1. Spread beef mixture evenly in a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Sprinkle 1 cup of cheese over the beef mixture (reserve extra for topping if desired).
  3. Arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer over the top.

4. Bake

  • Bake 35–40 minutes, until tater tots are golden brown and crispy, and the casserole is bubbling.
  • Optional: sprinkle remaining cheese over the tater tots in the last 5 minutes of baking.

5. Serve

  • Let cool 5 minutes before serving.

Tips

  • Vegetable variations: Add green beans, corn, or diced bell peppers for extra flavor and color.
  • Make-ahead: Assemble casserole and refrigerate overnight; bake next day, adding a few extra minutes to cooking time.
  • Extra flavor: Mix 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce or smoked paprika into the beef mixture.

I can also provide a slow-cooker tater tot casserole version that cooks hands-off while keeping the tots crispy on top.

Do you want me to give that version?
