Here’s a classic recipe for a baked potato—soft and fluffy on the inside with a crispy skin, perfect as a side or loaded with toppings.


Classic Baked Potato

Ingredients

  • 4 medium russet potatoes
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Optional toppings: butter, sour cream, cheese, bacon bits, chives

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven:
    • 425°F (220°C).
  2. Prepare the potatoes:
    • Scrub potatoes clean and pat dry.
    • Prick each potato a few times with a fork.
    • Rub with olive oil and sprinkle with salt.
  3. Bake the potatoes:
    • Place directly on the oven rack or a baking sheet.
    • Bake 45–60 minutes, until skin is crispy and a fork slides easily into the center.
  4. Serve:
    • Slice open the top, fluff the inside with a fork.
    • Add butter, sour cream, cheese, bacon bits, or chives as desired.

💡 Tips:

  • Crispier skin: Bake directly on the oven rack without foil.
  • Faster baking: Microwave potatoes 5–6 minutes first, then finish in the oven for 20–25 minutes.
  • Make ahead: Bake potatoes, cool, and refrigerate; reheat in the oven for a fluffy result.
