Classic Pork Wontons (Soup or Fried)
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground pork
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- ½ tsp white pepper
- 1 egg
- Wonton wrappers
Filling
Mix everything (except wrappers) until slightly sticky.
Folding (simple)
- Place 1 tsp filling in center.
- Wet edges with water.
- Fold into a triangle, press to seal.
- Bring corners together and pinch.
Cooking
- Boiled (soup): 3–4 minutes until they float
- Fried: 350°F oil, 2–3 minutes until golden
- Pan-fried: Brown, then steam with a splash of water
Wonton Soup (Quick)
- Chicken broth
- Garlic, ginger
- A splash of soy sauce & sesame oil
- Drop in wontons, simmer 3–4 minutes
- Finish with green onions
Variations
- Shrimp wontons: Swap pork for chopped shrimp
