Cheesy asparagus

Posted on January 9, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a quick, tasty cheesy asparagus recipe—crispy-tender spears with a gooey cheese topping 🧀🥬

🧀 Cheesy Asparagus

Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 1 lb (450 g) fresh asparagus, trimmed
  • 1–2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar, mozzarella, or Gruyère (or mix)
  • Optional: 1/4 cup grated Parmesan for extra flavor
  • Optional: 1 tsp garlic powder or minced garlic
  • Optional garnish: lemon zest or fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment.
  2. Prep asparagus
Toss asparagus with olive oil (or melted butter), salt, pepper, and optional garlic.
  3. Arrange & add cheese
Spread asparagus in a single layer on the baking sheet. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the top.
  4. Bake
Bake 10–12 minutes, until asparagus is tender but still crisp and cheese is melted and slightly golden.
  5. Serve
Garnish with fresh parsley or a sprinkle of lemon zest for brightness. Serve immediately.

🌟 Variations

  • Bacon-cheese asparagus: Top with crumbled cooked bacon before baking.
  • Parmesan garlic: Use Parmesan and sprinkle garlic powder for a nutty, aromatic flavor.
  • Creamy baked: Pour 1/4 cup heavy cream over asparagus before topping with cheese for a gratin-style dish.
  • Spicy: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the asparagus before baking.

If you want, I can give a super-rich, oven-baked cheesy asparagus with breadcrumbs and garlic butter topping—it comes out like a restaurant-style gratin. Do you want that version?
