Here’s the perfect baked potato—crispy skin, fluffy inside 🥔✨


Classic Oven-Baked Potato

Ingredients

  • Russet potatoes (1 per person)
  • Olive oil
  • Salt (coarse or kosher is best)
  • Optional toppings: butter, sour cream, cheese, chives, bacon bits, chili

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 220°C / 425°F.
  2. Scrub potatoes clean and pat dry.
  3. Pierce each potato 4–5 times with a fork.
  4. Rub lightly with olive oil and sprinkle generously with salt.
  5. Place directly on the oven rack (or on a baking sheet).
  6. Bake 45–60 minutes, until skin is crisp and a fork slides in easily.
  7. Slice open, fluff with a fork, and add toppings.

Quick Tips

  • For extra crispy skin, bake directly on the rack.
  • Don’t wrap in foil unless you want soft skin.
  • For extra fluffy insides, squeeze the potato ends gently after baking.

Faster Options

  • Microwave: 5–7 minutes, flipping halfway (skin won’t be crispy).
  • Microwave + oven: Microwave 5 minutes, then oven 10–15 minutes.
