Here’s a perfect baked sweet potato—soft inside, caramelized skin 🍠

Oven-Baked Sweet Potato

Ingredients

  • Sweet potatoes
  • Olive oil (optional)
  • Salt (optional)
  • Butter, cinnamon, brown sugar, or savory toppings (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Wash and scrub sweet potatoes well; pat dry.
  3. Pierce each potato 4–5 times with a fork.
  4. (Optional) Rub lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with salt for crisp skin.
  5. Place directly on the oven rack or on a foil-lined tray.
  6. Bake 45–60 minutes, until very soft when squeezed or pierced.

How to Serve

  • Sweet: Butter + cinnamon + brown sugar or honey
  • Savory: Butter + salt + pepper, or sour cream & chives
  • Healthy: Greek yogurt, tahini, or avocado
  • Meal-style: Top with black beans, salsa, and cheese

Quick Tips

  • Bigger potatoes take longer—start checking at 45 minutes.
  • For extra caramelization, slice open and return to oven for 5 minutes.
