Boiled egg

Posted on February 6, 2026 by Admin

Simple, classic, and perfect every time 🥚
Here’s exactly how to boil eggs to get the doneness you want—no guesswork.

How to Boil Eggs Perfectly

What You Need

  • Eggs
  • Water
  • Saucepan
  • Bowl of ice water

Steps

  1. Place eggs in a single layer in a saucepan.
  2. Add cold water to cover eggs by about 1 inch.
  3. Bring to a rolling boil over high heat.
  4. Once boiling, turn off heat, cover, and time:
    • Soft-boiled: 4–5 minutes (runny yolk)
    • Medium-boiled: 6–7 minutes (jammy yolk)
    • Hard-boiled: 10–12 minutes (fully set)
  5. Transfer eggs immediately to ice water for 5 minutes to stop cooking.

Easy-Peel Tip

  • Crack the shell at the wide end (air pocket) and peel under running water.
  • Slightly older eggs peel easier than very fresh ones.

Serving Ideas

  • Soft-boiled on toast or ramen
  • Medium-boiled for salads
  • Hard-boiled for deviled eggs, egg salad, or snacking

Storage

  • Unpeeled hard-boiled eggs: up to 7 days in the fridge
  • Peeled eggs: 2–3 days, stored in water in a sealed container

If you want, I can show you how to season boiled eggs, make jammy ramen eggs, or turn them into deviled eggs 😋
