Here’s a classic, moist Chocolate Cake recipe—rich, fluffy, and perfect for any occasion:

Ingredients (2-layer 9-inch cake)

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1¾ cups sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk (or 2%)
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Optional Frosting:

  • Chocolate buttercream, ganache, or cream cheese frosting

Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the oven and pans

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

2️⃣ Mix dry ingredients

  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3️⃣ Mix wet ingredients

  • In another bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla.
  • Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until smooth.

4️⃣ Add boiling water

  • Stir in boiling water carefully (batter will be thin).
  • This helps create a moist, tender cake.

5️⃣ Bake

  • Divide batter evenly between prepared pans.
  • Bake 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Cool 10 minutes in pans, then remove to wire racks to cool completely.

6️⃣ Frost

  • Once cooled, frost with your favorite chocolate frosting.

💡 Tips:

  • For extra moisture, brush each layer with a simple syrup (1 part sugar + 1 part water).
  • Cocoa powder can be substituted with Dutch-processed for a deeper flavor (reduce baking soda slightly).
  • Add a pinch of espresso powder to enhance the chocolate flavor.

If you want, I can also give a super easy one-bowl chocolate cake version that’s perfect for weeknight baking.
