Cranberry sauce over raw chicken breasts

Posted on February 28, 2026 by Admin

It sounds like you want to cook chicken breasts with cranberry sauce, which is a great way to get a sweet-and-tangy glaze. Here’s a safe and flavorful method:

🍗 Cranberry-Glazed Chicken Breasts

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup cranberry sauce (fresh, canned, or homemade)
  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional, for tang)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder or minced garlic
  • 1 tsp olive oil or butter

Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat oven

  • Preheat to 375°F (190°C).
  • Lightly grease a baking dish or line with parchment paper.

2️⃣ Prepare chicken

  • Pat chicken breasts dry.
  • Season both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Place in the baking dish.

3️⃣ Add cranberry sauce

  • Mix cranberry sauce with honey/maple syrup and mustard if using.
  • Spread or spoon the mixture evenly over the chicken breasts.

4️⃣ Bake

  • Bake uncovered 25–30 minutes (depending on thickness), or until chicken reaches internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  • Spoon some of the pan juices over the chicken halfway through cooking for extra flavor.

5️⃣ Optional broil for glaze

  • Broil 2–3 minutes at the end to caramelize the cranberry topping.

6️⃣ Serve

  • Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
  • Great with rice, roasted vegetables, or mashed potatoes.

🔥 Tips & Variations

  • Add fresh rosemary or thyme for a more herbaceous flavor.
  • For a stovetop version, sear chicken first in a skillet, then simmer with cranberry sauce until cooked through.
  • Combine cranberries with orange juice or zest for a bright, citrusy glaze.
  • Use chicken thighs for juicier results; adjust cooking time accordingly.

This method is safe because the chicken is fully cooked in the oven, even though the cranberry sauce is applied raw — it will cook along with the chicken.

I can also give you:

  • Slow cooker cranberry chicken
  • Cranberry-orange glazed chicken
  • Spicy cranberry chicken with chili flakes

Do you want the oven-baked version or a slow-cooker hands-off version?
