Here’s a crispy honey garlic chicken recipe — crunchy on the outside, tender inside, and coated in a sweet-savory garlic glaze 🍯🍗


🍯 Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken

Ingredients

For the Chicken:

  • 1½ lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

For the Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • ⅓ cup honey
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water (slurry for thickening)
  • Optional: ½ tsp chili flakes for a little heat

Instructions

1️⃣ Prep the Chicken

  1. Pat chicken pieces dry.
  2. Mix flour, cornstarch, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  3. Dip chicken pieces in beaten eggs, then coat evenly with the flour mixture.

2️⃣ Fry the Chicken

  1. Heat oil in a deep skillet or pan over medium-high heat (enough to shallow fry, about ½–1 inch).
  2. Fry chicken in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3–4 minutes per side.
  3. Remove and drain on paper towels.

3️⃣ Make the Sauce

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, soy sauce, garlic, and vinegar.
  2. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  3. Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook 1–2 minutes until sauce thickens.

4️⃣ Combine

  1. Toss fried chicken in the honey garlic sauce until fully coated.
  2. Serve immediately, garnished with chopped green onions or sesame seeds.

🍽 Serve With

  • Steamed rice or fried rice
  • Stir-fried vegetables
  • Noodles

🔥 Tips

  • For extra crispiness, double fry the chicken: fry once, rest 5 minutes, then fry again for 1–2 minutes.
  • Adjust sweetness or saltiness by tweaking honey and soy sauce ratio.
  • Can bake instead of fry: 425°F (220°C) for 20–25 min, tossing halfway, then toss in sauce.
