Fried chicken

Sounds good 😄 Here’s a simple, crispy fried chicken recipe you can make at home.

Classic Fried Chicken (Beginner-Friendly)

Ingredients

  • 4–6 pieces of chicken (drumsticks or thighs work best)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup milk (or water)
  • Cooking oil (vegetable or canola)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the coating
    In a bowl, mix flour, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  2. Egg wash
    In another bowl, whisk the eggs with milk.
  3. Coat the chicken
    • Dip chicken into the egg mixture
    • Roll it in the seasoned flour
    • For extra crispiness, dip it back into the egg, then flour again
  4. Heat the oil
    Heat oil in a deep pan to medium heat (hot, but not smoking).
  5. Fry
    Carefully place chicken in the oil.
    Cook about 12–15 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and fully cooked.
  6. Drain & rest
    Place on paper towels for a few minutes before eating.

Tips for Extra Good Fried Chicken 🍗

  • Let coated chicken rest 10 minutes before frying (helps the crust stick)
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan
  • If it browns too fast, lower the heat slightly
