garlic

Posted on January 8, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a quick garlic cheat sheet, depending on what you need it for 🧄

Forms & How to Use

  • Fresh garlic (cloves): Strongest flavor
    • Minced → sauces, wonton filling
    • Sliced → stir-fries
    • Crushed → marinades
  • Garlic powder: Mild, even flavor (¼ tsp ≈ 1 clove)
  • Garlic paste: Convenient, smooth
  • Roasted garlic: Sweet, mellow (great for potatoes)

Cooking Tips

  • Add garlic later in cooking to avoid burning
  • Low heat = sweeter flavor
  • High heat + too long = bitter

Common Substitutes

  • 1 clove garlic ≈ ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • No garlic? Use shallot or onion (different flavor, but works)

If this is for a specific dish you mentioned (wontons, fries, potatoes), tell me which one and I’ll tailor it exactly.
