Classic Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Ingredients (1–2 servings)

  • 2 slices of bread (white, sourdough, or whole wheat)
  • 2 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, or your favorite melting cheese)
  • 1–2 tbsp butter (softened)

Instructions

  1. Prep bread
    • Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread
  2. Assemble sandwich
    • Place cheese slices between the unbuttered sides of bread, so the buttered sides are on the outside
  3. Grill
    • Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat
    • Place sandwich in skillet and cook 2–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and cheese is melted
    • Press gently with a spatula for even grilling
  4. Serve
    • Slice diagonally and serve hot
