🥔 Mashed Potato Puffs

Mashed potato puffs are golden, crispy bites made from mashed potatoes mixed with cheese, herbs, and sometimes bacon, then baked or fried until light and fluffy on the inside. They’re perfect as a side dish, appetizer, or snack.

🧾 Ingredients

  • 2 cups Mashed potatoes (prepared or leftover)
  • ½ cup Shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
  • 1–2 tbsp Butter, melted
  • 1 Egg, beaten
  • ¼ cup Chopped green onions (optional)
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • ¼ tsp Black pepper
  • ½ cup Breadcrumbs (for coating)

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    • Preheat oven to 200 °C (400 °F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease.
  2. Mix potato filling
    • In a bowl, combine mashed potatoes, cheese, melted butter, egg, green onions, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  3. Shape the puffs
    • Using a spoon or hands, form small balls (about 1–2 inches). Roll in breadcrumbs to coat evenly.
  4. Bake or fry
    • Bake: Place puffs on the prepared baking sheet. Bake 15–20 minutes, turning halfway, until golden and crispy.
    • Fry (optional): Heat oil in a skillet and fry puffs until golden brown on all sides. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Serve
    • Serve warm with Sour cream, Ketchup, or a dipping sauce of choice.

🌟 Tips

  • Leftover mashed potatoes work perfectly and save time.
  • Flavor variations: Add cooked bacon, garlic powder, or herbs like parsley or chives.
  • Crispier puffs: Brush lightly with melted butter before baking.

🍽️ Serving Ideas

  • As an appetizer for parties or gatherings
