Mozzarella Cheesesteak Stromboli

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 300–350 g (10–12 oz) beef steak (sirloin or ribeye), thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup provolone cheese (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 220°C / 425°F. Line a baking tray with parchment.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet. Sauté onions and peppers until soft.
  3. Add steak, garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook quickly until just done. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
  4. Roll pizza dough into a large rectangle on a floured surface.
  5. Spread steak mixture evenly down the center, leaving borders.
  6. Top with mozzarella and provolone.
  7. Fold sides over filling, then roll tightly and seal edges.
  8. Place seam-side down on tray. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle Italian seasoning.
  9. Cut small slits on top for steam.
  10. Bake 18–22 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Rest 5 minutes before slicing.

Serving ideas:

  • Marinara sauce for dipping
  • Side salad or fries
  • Garlic butter brushed on top after baking
