Sausage cheese balls

Posted on January 12, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic, crowd-pleasing Sausage Cheese Balls recipe—perfect for parties, appetizers, or game-day snacks 🧀🌭

Sausage Cheese Balls

Ingredients (makes ~36 balls)

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground breakfast sausage
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • ¼ tsp onion powder (optional)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp cayenne (optional for a little heat)
  • ¼ cup cold butter, cubed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    • 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix ingredients
    • In a large bowl, combine sausage, cheese, flour, seasonings, and butter.
    • Mix until dough comes together. You may use your hands for best results.
  3. Form balls
    • Roll mixture into 1-inch balls and place on prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake
    • Bake 20–25 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Serve warm
    • Perfect on their own or with dipping sauces like ranch, honey mustard, or marinara.

Tips & Variations

  • Extra cheesy: Mix cheddar + Monterey Jack
  • Spicy: Add diced jalapeños or cayenne
  • Make-ahead: Freeze unbaked balls; bake from frozen, adding a few extra minutes
  • Bacon version: Cook and crumble 4 slices of bacon into the mixture

If you want, I can give a slow-cooker “cheesy sausage bite” version or an oven-baked party tray version with dipping sauce included for game days.

Do you want me to do that?
