Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

Posted on March 1, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a comforting and easy Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak recipe—tender beef patties in a rich, savory gravy:

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

Ingredients

For the patties:

  • 1 1/2 lbs (680 g) ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

For the gravy:

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Optional: 1 cup sliced mushrooms

Instructions

  1. Make the patties:
    • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
    • Shape into 6–8 oval patties.
  2. Prepare the gravy:
    • In a separate bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and mushrooms (if using).
  3. Layer in the slow cooker:
    • Place patties in the slow cooker.
    • Pour the gravy mixture over the patties, covering them evenly.
  4. Cook:
    • Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until patties are cooked through and gravy is thickened.
  5. Serve:
    • Spoon Salisbury steak and gravy onto plates.
    • Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.

Tips

  • For a richer gravy, stir in 1/4 cup sour cream just before serving.
  • You can brown the patties in a skillet before adding to the slow cooker for extra flavor, but it’s optional.
  • Leftovers store well in the fridge for 2–3 days and reheat beautifully.

I can also give a quick “dump-and-go” slow cooker version where you skip making the patties and just use seasoned beef chunks—it’s faster and still tastes like Salisbury steak.

Do you want me to give that version?
